Before disassembly, please check your old valve and ensure you know the position (top or bottom) of the white "H|C" indicator, and put it in the same place when installing the new cartridge. Also, be sure to apply grease to the black patch before installing it to prevent cracking.

The installation process involves shutting off the main water supply, removing the trim and 1222 cartridge, loosening the handle adapter screw, and removing the adapter. Use the attached Puller to remove the cartridge from the valve, apply lubricant to the cartridge oval on both sides, ensure the HC symbol and the notch in the cartridge stem are facing up, and then insert the new 1222 into the valve. Reinsert the retaining clip and make sure the cartridge is in place, then reinstall the shower handle to finish the process.
